In the tapestry of life, our connections with family, friends, and loved ones hold immeasurable value.
They shape our experiences, nurture our growth, and provide us with a sense of belonging. With every interaction, we sow seeds of karma that can ripple through generations.
And yes, Taylor Swift.
I just learned who Ice Spice was 15 minutes ago and I’ve been trying to forget Taylor Swift for the last 15 years—so imagine—the absolute whirlwind of me googling “Karma Quotes” and stumbling on the collaboration I did not know existed: Karma – Taylor Swift ft. Ice Spice
Like most diss-o-graphy, Taylor Swift is a shining example of a public figure whose fixation with ominous warnings going out to *their enemies* and almost always under the guise of “you’ll get what’s coming to you”, has earned her so much f*cking cash.
This makes me wonder… for an artist who’s the JK Rowling of mainstream music and whose audience has “grown up with her,” how many adults are sitting there listening to lyrics like “And I keep my side of the street clean/ You wouldn’t know what I mean” penned by Gigi Hadid’s 33 year-old best friend. Snickering to themselves on their way home from work, ohh that f*cking bitch Janet from HR has no damn idea what I mean.*
*But this is part of a larger conversation about the danger of weaponizing spiritual practices that *we’re not having* even though it’s ultimately counterintuitive because according to the principles of Karma, wanting revenge is bad karma? But maybe you’re not judged for your thoughts? Just your actions? Still unclear.*
For the record: I don’t even *hate* Taylor Swift.
In fact, I’ll admit for the sake of journalistic transparency the two songs of hers I have saved on my Spotify are Cardigan and Wildest Dreams— (unpack that one, on your own time).
That being said!
I have saved 18 Songs by Mr. 305 (17 of which, he’s actually just *featured on*), so I’m probably not the musical authority here—come to think of it though, even though he’s never written a song about it, I feel like Mr. Worldwide probably has the most *good karma* out of all the celebs??
Mostly because, he’s not like, writing vaguely accusatory and ominous lyrics for all his thinly veiled enemies that bad karma is “on their scent like a bounty hunter” and instead is just showing up to Walmarts in the most remote parts of America.
Everyone knows how far The Alaska Walmart is from Miami, right?!?!
As far as I’m concerned? Pitbull? 🔥 Fire karma 🔥
As far as Kurt Cobain’s concerned? Taylor Swift not so much.
